The Shepherds Rest Pub is one of the pubs in the local area close to Bellaghy where in the past Seamus Heaney brought Literary staff and students from Oxford and Cambridge Universities after a week of visiting the locations around Bellaghy where he wrote about in his many poems.
Nowadays you can enter the Shepherds Rest and have a Coffee,Tea or drink of your choice and relax in front of a warm turf fire. If you like we will even give you a reading of some of our favourite Seamus Heaney Poems. The Forge, The Outlaw, Digging,Seeing Things,Markings and many more. We will even read from our very local Geordie Barnett. We are open from 11.30 daily till late.
